Ute Mountain Ute Beadwork by Rebecca Hammond

On a recent trip to New Mexico and Colorado, you were glad to spend time with your friend, Becky, of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. A skilled archaeologist who studies the Ancestral Puebloans, she is also a talented artist who employs the traditional beading techniques that she learned as a child from her grandmother. Much of her work incorporates the geometric patterns found on Ancestral Puebloan pottery. The results are beautiful.
