There's a fair amount of history behind O'Neill and Pendleton Woolen Mills. Based in Santa Cruz, O'Neill has been making wetsuits and surf gear since the 1950s, while Pendelton has been producing woolen textiles in Oregon since 1863. It makes sense, then, that these two companies whose business is keeping people warm have teamed up on a limited capsule collection for Fall 2014.
Two Portland companies, clothier Bridge & Burn and pattern design studio Makelike, teamed up to create a few Hawaii-inspired pieces. The interesting twist is that the prints feature natural elements from the Pacific Northwest--rhododendrons, dogwood blossoms, and Douglas fir trees among others.
Portland-based theatre company Our Shoes Are Red/The Performance Lab will present Sam Shepard's True West. If you are in the Pacific Northwest in July/August, please consider seeing this play. In any event, please pass the word on to your networks.
