Royal Hem F/W 2013

As clearly seen in some of the images, particularly those that include bicycles, the latest collection from Royal Hem pays homage to the London Tweed Run. You daresay the influence of one Chuck Bass--that scheming and coldly brooding sartorial peacock--is also fairly evident here. There's heaps more from the lookbook after the jump.

Chopper Fever

Chopper Fever is a completely American made and produced brand featuring selvedge Japanese and Cone denim, outerwear, custom made jewelry, hats, accessories, button ups, tees, and long sleeve menswear.  They focus on quality details and styles that incorporate the new and the old using vintage dead stock fabric and limited runs.  You can easily see how they draw their inspiration from vintage Americana, heritage workwear, and custom motorcycle culture.  Chopper Fever is an offshoot of Sunrise Cycles, a Los Angeles-based full custom Harley Davidson shop.

This is the future of the motorcycle industry.  This up-and-coming generation of young builders who are bringing their own unique perspectives and experiences--skateboarding, punk rock, a hint of grunge, a sense of fashion that doesn’t consist solely of leather and fringe--to the freedom that comes with two wheels and the open road.  These days it’s not uncommon to see a lad with a big, bushy beard, cuffed blue jeans, RayBans, and flannel out and about on a rebuilt vintage Harley. This is an industry that not too long ago was saturated with extravagant bikes built for form over function, and many builders were claimed in the recession.  As a result, the years since have seen a resurgence of old school bobbers and the like.  Sunrise Cycles and their brothers in arms build bikes that are stripped down to everything but the bare essentials and make them look badass in the process.

Stussy x Dashwood Books | "Pools by Craig Fineman"

Hats off to Stussy and Dashwood for this one. Pools by Craig Fineman is a new book featuring a series of black-and-white photographs from the late 1970s by influential skate and surf photographer Craig Fineman. It's the result of a collaborative effort between Jules Gayton and your good friend, Duncan Campbell. Fineman was a lifelong friend of Duncan's and left him in charge of his archive of photographs.

From Stussy:
"Known for his artistic approach to photographing the burgeoning late ’70s surfing and skateboarding scene, Fineman took into consideration the overall aesthetics of a photograph. Unique angles and composition, intertwined with an almost architectural feel were hallmarks of Craig’s work. To further enhance said elements of his photography, we chose to present each photo in a distinct way offering a feel of the gravity of the situation, while highlighting the gracefully flowing movements taking place."

Stussy also printed a series of t-shirts with Fineman's photographs to compliment the special edition book. Check it all out here.

Mikael Kennedy, The Odysseus, 2010.

“One Art”
by Elizabeth Bishop

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.

—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.
"When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused." --Rilke

A.P.C. x Nike Sportswear Summer 2013

A.P.C., the French clothier and purveyor of freshness, has again teamed up with Nike to offer four new takes on two classic Nike styles. This time around, it's the Dunk High and Air Maxim 1 that have received the minimalist treatment in brown, white, and black suede/mesh.  Unless you're in Hong Kong, where they've already released, look for them on May 15.
